The HRC responded to the demand for the monks of the UOC to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

Member of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of Russia Alexander Brod reacted to the demand for the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

His words are reported by RIA Novosti.

Brod called the situation a shameful phenomenon, which crosses out all the statements of the Ukrainian authorities about their commitment to humanism and law. In his opinion, international organizations, including the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, UNESCO, should “break the shameful silence and stop the bacchanalia in Ukraine against representatives of the UOC.”

The administration of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra reserve ordered the monks of the UOC to leave the monastery buildings until March 29. As a justification for such a requirement, the conclusions of the interdepartmental working group about the violation by the monastery of the terms of the agreement on the use of state property were given. However, representatives of the UOC refused to do so.
